Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris

The photograph above was taken following a fire on the moor behind Leverburgh. Although the fire had been extinguished hours before the sun set the air was so still that the smoke was slow to dissipate and created a wonderful mist like atmosphere which was further enhanced by the natural mist that often appears following an extemely hot day on the Isle of Harris. The Isle of Harris has some of the most spectacular sunsets with various shades of pink, red and orange. However, on this summer evening on Harris the smoke and mist created a moodful shade of mauve, pale orange and steel blue. If you would like to stay in the small town of Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris we would suggest looking at the self catering accommodation at Scarista which is just a few minutes down the road, otherwise there are a number of guest houses on Harris with several in Leverburgh including the wonderful Grimisdale House.
